If you have children, helping them to get the most out of life is one of the things that will probably be important to you, and of course, one of the first steps to helping your children get the most out of life will be helping them to get the most out of their education; while each child is certainly different – and while it is certainly true that some children have different strengths and some have different weaknesses – it is also true that just about every child has the ability to do at least moderately well in school, as long as you know the right buttons to push!
One of the biggest obstacles to getting children to do well in school is helping them to understand how important school is in the first place; children, by their very nature, have a tendency to take a short-term view of most things, so it can be difficult for them to see the big-picture view of school, but as you work to encourage your children to do well in school, narrow your focus to helping them understand the importance of school – and even though they may not fully grasp this concept, they will grasp it enough to be willing to work hard most of the time.
Giving them the tools they need to succeed in school will be another key to helping your child succeed in school; if your child needs help in a particular subject, be willing to find a tutor who can help them; if they need help with certain aspects of a subject, aim to help them yourself; and if they need incentive to focus and do their work, find a way to give them this incentive.
And most children (and most parents, for that matter) fail to realize that academics are largely mental – meaning that if a child believes they will do well, they are far more likely to actually do well. As you give your children the tools required for them to be successful in school, also do your best to give them the confidence they need to succeed, and this will go a long way in allowing them to achieve the performance you hope for them to someday achieve!
If you are having a hard time getting used to a new smartphone or tablet device that has a touch screen, you surely realize that there will be a lot of things that will go into the “learning curve,” but one of the biggest obstacles of all can be the touch screen keyboard; at first, it might seem like it is going to be impossible to make one of these keyboards work for you, but if you have a bit of patience – and if you know a few simple tips to keep in mind – you will soon find that you can use a touch screen keyboard with no trouble at all.
If you are using a smartphone, on which you will be dealing with a small keyboard, you will have the easiest time if you use your thumbs, as this will allow you to hold the phone with your fingers while putting your thumbs to work; try to use both thumbs instead of just one, and start learning what words will be autocorrected so that you will have a better idea of just how “sloppy” (and therefore, how quick) you can be.
If you are using a tablet device, on the other hand – which will give you a bit more “keyboard” to work with – you will want to position your hands the same way you would on a regular keyboard, but instead of using all ten fingers, get used to using about six fingers; once you get used to where the keys are positioned, and once you get into the habit of looking at your fingers instead of at the screen, you will find that it is actually not much of a problem for you to type relatively fast.
And if you are needing to do any serious sort of typing on your touch screen, you will want to make sure you are making life easy on yourself, and the best way to do this is by purchasing a bluetooth keyboard. If you have a good bluetooth keyboard (one that holds its battery and does not lag when you are trying to type!), you will be able to type as much as you need to – the same way you could on a regular computer – right there on your touch screen device!
