Knowing What Equipment You Will Need Indoor Soccer

One of the most fun sports to play – if you want to hang out with people you are friends with and stay in shape in the process – is indoor soccer. Indoor soccer is also great for the fact that it can be played year-round, and for the fact that it truly is an intense workout! But before you can move forward and start up an indoor soccer team, you will have to make sure you know all the basic equipment you and your team will need.

Of course, you need to make sure you start out with all the equipment you would normally need for soccer, including shin guards, soccer shorts, and shoes for playing. As far as shoes go, you will have to find out what sort of playing surface your local indoor soccer gym has; most indoor soccer gyms have faux grass that allows you to play using cleats, but some places have artificial turf that will require you to get some special “indoor soccer shoes.”

As for gear for the whole team, you will also want to make sure you have some sort of jersey or matching shirts, as you will be unable to distinguish your team from the other without these! Some indoor soccer gyms have rules that require all players on a team to wear matching shirts, but even if your local gym does not have this rule, it will still be good for you to still go this route. Your team jerseys will not have to be actual soccer jerseys, but you should still make sure that the shirts are made of lightweight material that will be good for some serious running and sweating!

Among the players on your team, you will also have to make sure you have a couple soccer balls, as games will be played with a soccer ball that comes from one team or the other. And one of the most important things of all to remember: most indoor soccer gyms require you to bring a “ref fee” each week; this is usually minimal, but make sure you have it!

Once these things are all in place, you can put in your indoor soccer team, and you can start having some serious fun!

Dealing With Bee Stings

A bee sting is no fun, as it can not only cause you pain, but it can also put poison in your blood stream that makes you feel sick (and of course, it is even worse for those who are allergic to bee stings!), but even though you will be hopeful that you (or your children) will not have to deal with bee stings, it is wise – especially during the summer – to know what you should do in case a bee sting occurs. Taking care of bee stings is easy to do, after all, but if you do not know what you are doing, you will not be able to take the proper steps!

The first thing for you to do is check the area of the sting to see if the stinger is embedded in the skin; if the stinger is not in the skin, you will be in much better shape, as this will mean there was little to no poison emitted, but if the stinger is embedded in the skin, you will need to use tweezers and pull it out.

Once you have safely removed and disposed of the stinger, you will need to mix a little concoction to go over the area of the sting; in a bowl, stir a little bit of water into baking soda until it creates a paste-like substance, then cover the area with this paste and allow it to dry.

You will minimize the effects of the sting and the poison with this concoction of baking soda and water, but you will also need to make sure that no air is getting to the spot of the sting, and that the paste is not crumbling off; you can do this by putting a bandage over the paste and leaving it on for several hours.

You should immediately visit a doctor if you have taken these steps and an allergic reaction still occurs – but as long as you take these steps, you will greatly minimize the possibility of any further damage!

Tips For Keeping Your Christmas Tree Fresh Longer

If you typically purchase a live Christmas tree, you probably understand how big of an issue “keeping a Christmas tree fresh” can be; after all, the last thing you want is to have a Christmas tree that is dried out by the middle of December, with needles falling off of it and with it turning into a fire hazard each time you turn on the Christmas lights, but considering the fact that the Christmas tree is already dead when you put it up, what can you do to keep it fresh for as long as possible?

The first steps to keeping your Christmas tree fresh will take place as you pick out the Christmas tree; not only should you examine the tree closely to make sure it is the right size and shape for your house (and for your family’s preference), but you should also check to make sure no needles fall off when you pull your fingers along the branches – and then, for the drive home, you should make sure the base of the Christmas tree is covered so that the wind does not close off the bottom of the trunk.

When you get home, you should cut off at least another inch off the bottom of the tree, and should transfer it into water immediately; in choosing a spot for the tree, you should make sure it will not be in direct sunlight and will not be subjected to constant fluctuations in temperature (putting it by your heating vents is a bad idea!), as this will help your tree maintain its liveliness for a much longer time.

You will want to make sure you are giving the tree water on a regular basis, all throughout the month; if the tree does not constantly have water available, it will shut down its “drinking function,” and the only way you will be able to save it is to dismantle all your decorations and cut the bottom of the tree again – which is certainly more hassle than you will want to put yourself through!

Of course, in all actuality, you are trying to keep a dead tree acting as if it is still alive, so it cannot go on forever – but when you follow these tips, it can go on looking fresh long enough to last you until after Christmas!

One thing that many people find to be exceptionally relaxing is going for a walk, and the great thing about going for a walk in order to relax is that it is also a great way to keep your body in shape; you might not think that “walking” counts as keeping your body in shape, but with regular walking, you will be keeping your muscles active and your blood flowing – all while helping your mind and nerves to unwind and relax!
