If you have a multi level home, you may wish to purchase a model that is interconnected. Electritions can install wired models, or you can install your own wireless models. Interconnected models are great because no matter where you are in the house you will hear an alarm that is going off.  If one goes off, they all go off. This is an outstanding safety feature!

You will need to decide if you would like a detector model that is hard wired into your electrical system or if you are more interested in models that are battery operated. Also please keep in mind that any battery operated models will have to have their batteries replaced every six months.
